Adding new patients

To add a new patient to the registry, click the Add new patient button to access the user interface of the Mainzelliste pseudonymization software. Mainzelliste refers to a web-based pseudonymisation service and identity management which is integrated into the OSSE software to generate a personal identifier (PID) from identifying data (IDAT) (further information).

Enter the patient’s details, i.e., first name(s), name, birth name (optional, if different from last name), date of birth, zip code (optional) and city (optional). It is possible to specify further identifying data, such as a hospital ID or place of birth, by modifying the configuration of the Mainzelliste.

After clicking 'Add patient' a pseudonym will be requested for this patient. If a patient with identifcal details already exists in the Mainzelliste, the existing pseudonym (PID) is returned, otherwise a new one will be generated. It is not possible to generate a new pseudonym for a patient with personal data (name, date of birth) identical to a patient already stored in the Mainzelliste.

Handling uncertain cases

In some cases, a patient with similar but not exactly matching details is found in the database. In that case you will be asked to either check and correct the details, if necessary, via the Correct data button or confirm the details you entered via the Confirm data button.
